Evansville, IN – The Evansville Fire Department is recognizing Fire Investigator Patrick Moore after he earned the designation of Certified Fire & Explosion Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators.
The CFEI certification is a nationally and internationally recognized professional credential for fire and explosion investigators. According to the department, earning the designation requires extensive training and experience in investigating fires and determining how and why they started.
Fire investigators examine physical evidence, study burn patterns, interview witnesses and apply scientific principles to determine what happened during a fire.
Moore has spent the past two and a half years with the Evansville Fire Department’s Fire Investigation Bureau and has served as the lead investigator on more than 150 fire scenes.
The department said Moore is also attending the police academy as he works toward obtaining dual authority in both law enforcement and fire investigation.
In addition to his investigative duties, Moore serves as the handler for K-9 Indie. He dedicates time to training and developing the K-9 so she remains prepared to respond when needed, further strengthening the department’s fire investigation capabilities.
The Evansville Fire Department said Moore’s certification reflects a significant amount of work and commitment to serving the Evansville community.
The department congratulated Moore on earning the professional designation and recognized his continued efforts in fire investigation and emergency response.
