Evansville, IN – The City of Evansville announced it has been selected as a 2026 recipient of the Nutrition Access, Affordability & Education Grant Program, receiving a $125,000 award to support improved health outcomes for children and families.
City officials said the funding will help expand access to nutritious food and create safe, supportive environments for youth.
The initiative is supported through partnerships with the African American Mayors Association and American Beverage Foundation for a Healthy America, which jointly invest in community-based health programs.
As part of the effort, the city will work alongside the Evansville Promise Neighborhood to expand its Healthy Play & Pantry program. The program focuses on increasing access to healthy food options while also providing safe spaces for children and families.
Officials said the grant reflects a broader commitment to strengthening community health and building long-term support systems for residents across Evansville.
