BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market will be open Saturday at the Showers Common area on North Morton Street from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

First, with the addition of May vendors, the number of reserved spaces will increase from 17 to 30 spaces this Saturday. Along with a delicious array of options from food and beverage artisans, patrons will enjoy such offerings as maple syrup and honey, eggs, vegetables, herbs, plants, fruits, and flowers.

Stop by this Saturday to check out all of these amazing products.

Masks are required while inside the Market and remember to socially distance.

Entrance/exit are off the plaza by the City Hall entrance, to help ensure
crowd limits

Public restrooms are not available.

No eating or drinking while inside the Market

The Farmers’ Market welcomes food stamp shoppers.

How to Double Your Food Stamps at Market

  • During Saturday Market hours, go inside City Hall to the counter where you see the “Use Your SNAP (food stamp) Card Here” sign. During Tuesday Market, go to the Market information table.
  • Use your food stamp card to purchase as many Market Bucks as you like. Market Bucks are available in $3 increments, and can be used like cash to buy farm products from market vendors.
  • Beginning in 2013, as long as funding is available, you can double the value of your SNAP (food stamp) purchase. For every $3 in SNAP (food stamp) benefits you exchange, we will give you $6 in Market Bucks!
  • Draw up to $27 in SNAP (food stamp) benefits, and receive up to $54 in Market Bucks to buy fresh-from-the-farm, healthy, locally grown farm products at the Farmers’ Market.

Keep your unused Market Bucks to spend the next time you shop at either the Saturday or Tuesday Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market. Market Bucks expire at the end of the calendar year in which they are purchased.

The Farmers’ Market has an opening for a customer representative on the Farmers’ Market Advisory Council (FMAC). The FMAC consists of 10 members representing Market vendors, customers, and food and beverage artisans.

The Council acts in an advisory capacity to the Board of Park Commissioners and Parks staff on policy matters relating to the Farmers’ Market. Meetings are usually held virtually at 5:30 p.m. on the third Monday of each month.

Advisory Council meetings are open to the public.
