Indianapolis, Indiana – The appointment of Tanuja Singh, DBA, MBA, M.Sc., as the university’s eleventh president, was unanimously endorsed by the board of trustees, the University of Indianapolis stated on Tuesday.
At Loyola University New Orleans, Singh now holds the positions of Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. She oversaw the development of the university’s strategic plan to establish financial, intellectual, and other mission-specific priorities.
David Resnick, chair of the University of Indianapolis Board of Trustees, claims that Singh’s expertise is in balancing talent and importance, ensuring that the organizations she heads are satisfying the expectations of students and potential employers.
Resnick said, “As higher education is rapidly changing, and with it the demands of our students and community partners, this makes her the right leader at the right time for UIndy …”
In the past, Singh held a number of positions at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, as well as the dean of the Greehey School of Management at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas.
At some universities, Singh has led the charge in reorganizing education to better address the needs of non-traditional students and lower obstacles for those groups.
Singh has led the establishment of numerous programs, including new majors, minors, and concentrations, at multiple universities during the course of her career. She has also worked with others to build new graduate programs.
Singh has played active roles in supporting her campus community through activities including community involvement, alumni relations, student achievement programs, and enrollment management.
UIndy and its students are growing, and Singh is excited about her new role as president. She believes that education must be responsive to the demands of its community and is eager to go forward.
Singh said, “Helping our students discover their potential and supporting them in their endeavors is one of our most important goals. My charge is to make sure that we achieve this by increasing opportunities for them through collaborative participation; both within our campus community, but just as importantly, and how we engage with the city and beyond … ”
President Singh will take office on July 1, 2023. Tuesday at 10 a.m., Singh’s election will be declared, and there will be a welcome ceremony. The event will be broadcast live.
