Evansville, IN — The Indiana Attorney General’s office has filed a lawsuit against a Jasper-based travel company, GoGo Travel Consulting LLC, accusing it of deceiving consumers through fraudulent timeshare deals. The lawsuit, announced by Attorney General Todd Rokita, alleges that the company used deceptive practices, including identity theft, to manipulate consumers into believing they were engaging with a legitimate timeshare service.
According to the complaint, GoGo Travel Consulting LLC misrepresented itself by unlawfully using the identity of an Indiana-licensed real estate broker without his knowledge or consent. The company allegedly presented itself as a trusted service specializing in timeshare rentals and purchases. In reality, it is accused of operating a fraudulent scheme aimed at tricking consumers into paying for bogus services.
“As we work to protect Hoosiers, we will continue holding accountable those who engage in these kinds of illegal shakedowns,” Attorney General Rokita said in a statement. “We encourage anyone who believes they have been a victim of timeshare fraud to contact our office immediately.”
The lawsuit was filed through the Homeowner Protection Unit (HPU), part of the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division. Rokita’s office claims that GoGo Travel Consulting used a phone number that appeared to originate from southern Indiana, but was actually linked to two Mexican nationals living in Puerto Vallarta. These individuals are allegedly involved in the fraudulent operation, further complicating the case.
The Attorney General’s office is urging consumers who suspect they may have fallen victim to similar scams to reach out. Victims can file complaints through the Indiana Consumer website at indianaconsumer.com or by calling 1-800-382-5516.
This lawsuit represents a continued effort by the Attorney General’s office to safeguard consumers from fraudulent activities, particularly in the realm of timeshare deals, which have long been a target for scammers.
