Evansville, IN — Four men have been arrested and charged following a poaching incident in southern Indiana that occurred late last month. According to Indiana Conservation Officers, the suspects were apprehended on November 23 after a routine patrol led officers to uncover several hunting violations in Daviess County.
Around 10 p.m. on that Friday night, officers were patrolling CR 900 East when they heard a gunshot in the immediate vicinity. Upon investigating, they discovered four individuals, identified as 40-year-old Biak Sang and 40-year-old Muang Hu, both from Greenwood, along with 34-year-old Ro Hmung Lian and 48-year-old Biak Hu, both from Indianapolis. The officers also found a deer that had been shot from the roadway with the aid of an artificial light. In addition to this deer, two more illegally taken deer were discovered in the back of their vehicle.
The suspects were promptly taken into custody and are now facing several misdemeanor charges, including:
- Jacklighting (hunting at night with artificial light)
- Illegal possession and taking of a white-tailed deer
- Shooting from a public roadway
- Hunting by the aid of a motorized vehicle
- Hunting deer after legal hours
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with officers continuing to gather details related to the poaching activity.
