EVANSVILLE, Ind. — A 21-year-old Evansville man is behind bars after being arrested on charges related to fentanyl trafficking. Samuel Parker, known to law enforcement as a fentanyl dealer, was taken into custody on Thursday following a months-long investigation conducted by the Evansville Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force.
According to police, officers initiated a traffic stop on Parker after observing suspicious activity. During the stop, authorities discovered marijuana, fentanyl, and over $1,000 in cash on Parker’s person. Investigators also reported that Parker was seen discarding a trash bag shortly before the stop, which led to further evidence in the case.
Inside the discarded bag, police found powder inside pizza boxes that tested positive for fentanyl, prompting a search of Parker’s residence. There, authorities seized additional fentanyl powder and more than 350 grams of marijuana. The investigation has raised concerns over the distribution of fentanyl, a powerful and often deadly synthetic opioid.
Parker has been charged with multiple drug-related offenses and is currently being held without bond. Authorities are continuing their investigation and have emphasized the seriousness of fentanyl’s impact on local communities.
The Evansville Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force is urging residents to remain vigilant in reporting suspicious drug activity as part of efforts to combat the opioid epidemic that has affected many regions across the country.
