Posey County, Indiana – According to a press statement from the Indiana State Board of Animal Health, birds from a flock in Posey County have tested presumptively positive for the H5 avian influenza virus at the Indiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL).
For confirmation testing, samples are forwarded to the national USDA laboratory. Results should be available in the upcoming days.
This 23-bird flock is non-commercial, which means it has never been offered for purchase or consumption.

The risk to human health is very minimal, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
