Indianapolis, Indiana – Downtown is getting into the holiday spirit thanks to the contributions of local musicians.
SPARK on the Circle is going to be back for the holiday circle, according to Downtown Indianapolis Inc. On the circle, there will be live performances by a variety of musicians, all with the goal of spreading holiday cheer.
According to Rob Funkhouser, a local artist, “Each hour we’re going to have a totally different feel, going from classical to soul to jazz, and I think it’s just going to add something a little special to the experience for anyone coming down during this time.”
The goal of the SPARK program is to encourage people to rethink the ways in which they engage with the various public spaces found throughout the city. Rob believes that having live music on the circle contributes to the space feeling more unique and special.
According to Funkhouser, having live musicians is crucial because “it gives a human touch to what would otherwise just be music playing on the radio down here,” and “having live musicians is important.”
On Saturday, December 17, beginning at 4 p.m. and continuing until 8:15 p.m., musicians will once again be performing in the downtown area. The following music acts will take place:
• 4-5:15: Adam Shuntich – Classical Guitar covers of classic Christmas songs
• 5:30 – 6:45: Bashiri Asad – Naptown Soul
• 7-8:15: Luke and Charissa Garrigus – Classic Christmas Carols
