Bloomington, Indiana – USA Today named The City of Bloomington as a socially-distant-friendly place to travel.
The city is one of four travel spots chosen across the country. It can be a possible safe getaway option during Labor Day weekend.
The nation’s top infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), said a safe holiday will be key for controlling COVID-19. Fauci believes the U.S can get a running start at containing the virus this fall by avoiding large gathering this holiday weekend.
Labor Day is considered the end of summer and Americans usually like to getaway one last time, but this year is different with the pandemic.
USA Today touts that Bloomington has something for everyone from families to retired couples.
There are 13 historic districts which are easily accessible. Another safe option is Starlite Drive-in Theater. Families can spend an evening safely in their own car.
The website also lists wide-open spaces with plenty of social distance like Cascades Gold Course and the Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market.
There’s also a free summer send-off concert on September 4 at Switchyard Park.
