Evansville, IN – The City of Evansville’s Traffic Engineering Department will begin making updates to the traffic signal at Burkhardt Road and Lloyd Crossing on Monday, Sept. 21, as crews prepare the intersection for an upcoming construction phase of the Cross Pointe Roundabout project.
The improvements will add five-section signal heads with protected/permissive left-turn signals for eastbound and westbound traffic.
The city said the changes are intended to improve traffic flow while construction work on the Cross Pointe Roundabout project moves forward.
Drivers should expect changes beginning Monday, when crews will update the lane configuration with new pavement markings and overhead signage.
On Tuesday, Sept. 22, crews are scheduled to install the new signal heads.
The work is weather dependent and will take place during the morning hours only. During the installation, drivers should expect temporary lane restrictions and an all-way stop condition at the intersection.
The city is advising motorists traveling through the area to slow down, use caution and allow extra time for their commute while crews are working.
The intersection is located near Walmart and Best Buy, and drivers who regularly use Burkhardt Road and Lloyd Crossing should be prepared for temporary changes to traffic patterns during the work.
The signal upgrades are part of preparations for the next phase of construction associated with the Cross Pointe Roundabout project.
