Evansville, IN – The Evansville Fire Department’s Water Rescue Team took part in a multi-agency river training exercise hosted by the U.S. Coast Guard.
The training focused on safely approaching a moving vessel and transferring personnel or patients from one boat to another while both vessels were underway.
The exercise brought together several agencies, including the Evansville Police Department, Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, and Perry and Ohio townships.
The Evansville Fire Department said each agency has a different role during an emergency on the river, making joint training important for improving coordination and communication.
The department said exercises like this help responders build the confidence and skills needed to work together effectively when responding to emergencies on the water.
