Evansville, IN – An Evansville Police Department officer was recently recognized by Sonitrol of Evansville for his role in the quick apprehension of a suspect connected to a McDonald’s break-in on Covert Avenue.
According to Sonitrol of Evansville, Officer Ryan Andrews responded to the burglary on April 15, 2026, after the company’s security system detected the break-in and alerted authorities. Officials said officers arrived on scene within approximately three minutes.
Representatives from Sonitrol visited the Evansville Police Department to present Officer Andrews with a certificate and commemorative knife in recognition of his response and professionalism. The company also delivered gifts, cookies, and energy drinks for department personnel.
Sonitrol officials credited both the accuracy of the security system and the rapid response from Evansville Police for the successful apprehension. The company also recognized central station operator Finley for verifying the alarm and dispatching officers.
According to Sonitrol, the company has assisted in 1,480 apprehensions since 1970 through its partnership with local law enforcement agencies.
Company representatives said the recognition highlighted the ongoing collaboration between private security personnel and police officers working to protect the Evansville community.
