Evansville, IN – The Evansville Fire Department announced that Instructor Steve Jordan has been named the 2025 Firefighter of the Year, an honor recognizing outstanding service and dedication.
Officials said the recognition was presented by the Green River Kiwanis, which has continued to highlight the work of local firefighters.
Jordan, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, has served with the department since 1996. As an instructor, he has trained more than 100 firefighters, led multi-company training programs, and mentored personnel both on and off duty. He was previously named Instructor of the Year in 2019 by the Indiana Fire Chiefs Association and was part of a division recognized as Training Division of the Year in 2023.
The department also recognized several other nominees for the award, including Captain Adam Brock, Lieutenant Patrick McBride, Investigator Patrick Moore, Captain Adam Smith, and Captain Jeremy Nelson.
Officials said each nominee represents a high level of commitment to the department and the community, and they expressed appreciation for their continued service.
