Evansville, IN – Officers from the Evansville Police Department joined 47 students from local law enforcement and community partners for a 40-hour Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) program.
Hosted by Ascension St. Vincent Evansville in partnership with NAMI, Southwestern Behavioral Healthcare, Deaconess, Brentwood Springs, and Evansville State Hospital, the training emphasizes de-escalation, empathy, and effective response during mental health crises.
The department said the collaborative program equips officers to serve individuals in crisis with compassion, understanding, and safety at the forefront.
