Evansville, Ind. — Three street outreach teams visited 14 locations Thursday morning to connect people experiencing homelessness with emergency shelter ahead of an approaching winter storm, officials said.
The teams secured warm places to stay for 19 individuals and also provided transportation, storage for personal belongings, and other supportive resources.
Members of the outreach effort included the Evansville Police Department’s Crime Prevention Unit, Aurora Evansville, Southwestern Behavioral Healthcare, and ECHO Housing & Community Development.
The outreach work was coordinated by the Commission on Homelessness for Evansville and Vanderburgh County.
