EVANSVILLE, Ind. — A commercial building at Yurks & Associates on North Kentucky Avenue caught fire early Sunday morning, prompting a swift response from local fire crews.
Vanderburgh County Central Dispatch received a call at 7:12 a.m. from a passerby who noticed flames inside the structure. Upon arrival, the first engine company reported active flames on the east side of the building.
Firefighters from Rescue 3 managed to enter safely from the west end, where smoke and fire were minimal. The building’s sprinkler system activated automatically, helping to control the spread of the fire until crews were able to extinguish it roughly 45 minutes later.
No injuries were reported among the firefighting personnel.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation as authorities work to determine what sparked the incident.
