EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Authorities in Evansville are investigating an incident involving a suspected explosive device that was thrown through the window of a local residence.
The Evansville Police Department responded to a report of criminal mischief in the 2400 block of Fares Avenue, where a resident reported damage to their home. According to officials, the victim believed a bomb had been thrown through their window, prompting an immediate response.
Upon arrival, officers observed multiple broken windows and discovered burnt paper and a white powdery substance on the home’s front porch. While initial concerns suggested the possibility of a bomb, police now believe the device was likely a firework.
Surveillance footage from a neighboring home captured a black SUV circling the block before stopping in front of the residence. Video appears to show an individual inside the vehicle lighting a firework and launching it toward the home.
Despite the alarming nature of the incident, no injuries were reported.
The Evansville Police Department is continuing its investigation and asks anyone with information to contact the Adult Investigations Unit at 812-436-7979.
