New Albany, Ind. — A 37-year-old New Albany woman has been arrested on charges of child sex trafficking and related felonies after an investigation by the Indiana State Police (ISP). The arrest follows a cyber tip that suggested a child may have been exploited for sexual purposes through an online dating app.
The investigation was initiated in February when ISP Trooper Mackenzie Benham received the cyber tip, which raised concerns about potential child sexual abuse. Benham, along with ISP Detective Steven Peyton, worked swiftly to obtain a search warrant for data linked to the tip. Their investigation ultimately led them to Kristina S. McAdams, who was found to be involved in the exploitation.
A cell phone, which was collected as evidence, revealed further incriminating information. Additionally, the Indiana Department of Child Services removed a child from McAdams’ residence as part of the investigation. The Floyd County Superior Court subsequently issued an arrest warrant for McAdams on charges including child sexual trafficking, promotion of sexual trafficking of a younger child, and promoting prostitution.
McAdams was taken into custody by the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department and is currently being held at the Floyd County Jail.
Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, especially on digital platforms, as cases of child exploitation through online services continue to rise. The investigation remains ongoing.
