EVANSVILLE, Ind. — A truck crashed into the German Township Fire Department headquarters on Saturday afternoon, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.
According to a press release issued by the German Township Fire Department, emergency crews were initially dispatched to respond to an extrication accident on Saint Wendel Road. While en route, dispatch informed firefighters that a red pickup truck had left the roadway and collided with the department’s headquarters building.
Firefighters were able to extricate the driver of the truck without incident, ensuring his safety before he was transported. Remarkably, no injuries were sustained by anyone involved in the crash, including the driver and first responders.
Despite the significant damage to the firehouse, the German Township Fire Department reassured the public that they will continue to provide emergency services during the repair period. The department emphasized that their ability to respond to calls for assistance will remain uninterrupted, despite the temporary disruption to their main headquarters.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, though officials have not indicated any further details at this time.
Residents are encouraged to remain alert as the fire department works through the temporary closure and restoration of their building.
