Evansville, Ind. — In an effort to enhance the city’s urban landscape, Keep Evansville Beautiful hosted an Arbor Day tree giveaway event on April 12. The event, which took place at Wesselman Park starting at 9 a.m., continued until all 261 trees were distributed to local residents.
The trees, ranging from 10 to 20 feet tall, were a significant addition to the community’s green spaces. While the trees were sizable and heavy, event organizers encouraged attendees to plan accordingly to transport and plant them properly. Arborists were also on hand throughout the event to answer any questions and provide guidance on planting and tree care.
The giveaway was made possible through a grant from CenterPoint Energy, which helped fund the initiative aimed at strengthening Evansville’s urban environment. The trees will play an important role in not only beautifying the area but also contributing to the overall health and sustainability of the city’s green spaces.
“This event is part of our ongoing commitment to improving Evansville’s landscape and promoting environmental stewardship,” said a representative from Keep Evansville Beautiful. “We’re grateful for the support from CenterPoint Energy and the enthusiastic participation of the community.”
With 261 trees now added to the city’s parks and residential areas, the event marked a successful celebration of Arbor Day in Evansville, providing local residents with the opportunity to contribute to the city’s long-term environmental health.
