(BEDFORD) – A Bloomington woman was arrested after Bedford Police officers were called to Walmart on Thursday night.
According to Bedford Police Chief Terry Moore, officers were requested to Walmart after an employee stopped a female for theft.
“Officers arrived and were told the employee watched two females remove Walmart shopping bags from her purse and place items from their shopping cart into the bags. The employee then watched as they walked through a closed register to the women’s restroom. After exiting the restroom they both walked to the exit door without paying for any of the items.”
One of the women was identified as 37-year-old Melissa Phillips.
“Phillips was stopped before leaving the store,” Chief Moore added. The other female walked away and left out the other store exit before she could be stopped.”
Phillips was issued a summons to appear in court on a charge of theft.
“The other female has been identified and a warrant was requested for her involvement,” Chief Moore added.
