EVANSVILLE, Ind. — A 19-year-old man was arrested early Monday morning after a handgun was discovered in his vehicle, following a series of reports involving gunshots and a suspicious car in the area.
According to the Evansville Police Department (EPD), officers were dispatched to the intersection of Judson and Ridgeway Avenue shortly before 1:30 a.m. after a caller reported hearing at least 20 gunshots nearby. The caller also mentioned a Kia Soul seen driving in the area with its headlights off, raising suspicions.
Shortly after, another report came in about a suspicious vehicle near Sweetser Avenue, leading officers to locate the Kia Soul driven by Lamario Carter. After stopping the vehicle, police discovered a handgun inside. Carter was arrested on charges of possession of a handgun.
This arrest is particularly significant as Carter is already facing a felony indictment for a similar offense from December 2024. After his arrest, Carter was transported to the Vanderburgh County Jail but was released later that day after posting a $500 bond.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing as authorities continue to assess the circumstances surrounding the gunshots and Carter’s involvement.
