EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Authorities are seeking the public’s help in locating a man who allegedly assaulted a manager at Showplace Cinemas late Saturday night. According to Evansville Police, officers were dispatched to the Showplace North location just after 11:30 p.m. in response to an assault.
Upon arrival, the manager informed officers that the incident began when the power went out during a movie, causing it to stop abruptly. The suspect reportedly became upset and demanded a refund. The manager attempted to resolve the situation by assuring the suspect he would retrieve the refund. However, police say the situation escalated when the suspect physically attacked the manager.
The suspect allegedly placed his hands around the manager’s neck, pushed him against a counter, and threatened him, saying he had 30 seconds to retrieve the money. Witnesses reported that two teenage boys who were with the suspect later apologized for his actions as they left the scene.
The suspect is described by authorities as a white male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing around 200 pounds. He is believed to be in his late 30s to early 40s and has a light brown beard. Police say the suspect was last seen leaving the scene in a white SUV.
Anyone with information about the suspect’s identity or whereabouts is urged to contact the Evansville Police Department.
