EVANSVILLE, Ind. — A fire broke out near Highway 41 in the 6800 block of Briar Court on Wednesday evening, severely damaging the attached garage of a home. According to reports from the scene, the blaze also caused damage to the interior of the residence.
Emergency crews arrived quickly and were seen working to extinguish the fire, with firefighters focusing on hotspots once the flames were no longer visible. Despite the intense damage to the garage, authorities confirmed that everyone inside the home at the time of the fire managed to escape without injury.
Witnesses on the scene noted that the presence of vehicles parked inside the garage made firefighting efforts more difficult and extended the time it took to fully put out the blaze. However, the fire was brought under control within 35 minutes.
At this time, the cause of the fire remains under investigation, and no further details have been released. Local authorities are continuing to assess the damage and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
The quick response of emergency personnel likely helped prevent the situation from worsening, and the community remains hopeful that further details will help explain the incident.
Authorities encourage anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
