EVANSVILLE, Ind. – A 23-year-old woman, Victoria Rocca, was arrested on Saturday in connection to a stabbing that occurred during a domestic dispute in Evansville.
Rocca is facing charges of Domestic Battery with a Deadly Weapon after allegedly stabbing another woman in the upper arm with a kitchen knife.
According to Evansville Police, the incident took place at approximately 3:30 p.m. on the 3800 block of Evergreen Avenue. Officers reported that the argument between Rocca and the victim escalated, prompting Rocca to grab a knife from the kitchen and stab the victim.
After the attack, the victim fled the scene and went to a neighbor’s house for help.
The neighbor, who was armed with a rifle, claimed that Rocca’s boyfriend emerged from the home holding the knife. In an attempt to deescalate the situation, the neighbor fired two or three shots into the ground to scare them off. Following the confrontation, both Rocca and her boyfriend fled the area.
Police later received information that the couple had been seen at a residence on Wall Street.
Authorities responded quickly and located the pair inside a vehicle near the home. They were both taken in for questioning.
After further investigation, Rocca was arrested and transported to Vanderburgh County Jail. Her boyfriend, however, was not charged in connection with the incident.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, is expected to recover from her injuries.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the stabbing.
