VANDERBURGH COUNTY, Ind. — A person is recovering after being rescued from a bedroom window during a house fire early Sunday morning. The incident occurred shortly before 7:00 AM at a residence on New Harmony Road.
According to the German Township Fire Department, a call was made to dispatch reporting that an individual was trapped in a bedroom, unable to escape due to flames and thick smoke blocking the hallway. Firefighters from Perry Township were the first to arrive at the scene and immediately worked to rescue the trapped person. They successfully extricated the individual from a bedroom window, ensuring they were safely removed from the danger without further injury.
The victim, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was transported to Deaconess Hospital for medical care.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Emergency responders from multiple agencies—including McCutchanville Fire Department, Vanderburgh County Fire Department, Wadesville Fire Department, Ohio Township Volunteer Fire Department, and Marrs Township Volunteer Fire Department—assisted in the firefighting and rescue efforts.
