Evansville, IN – A 62-year-old Evansville man has died from injuries sustained in a car crash Thursday evening in Vanderburgh County. Authorities identified the victim as Joseph Snyder, Jr.
The accident occurred just before 7 p.m. at the intersection of State Road 68 and Lilypad. Investigators say Snyder’s vehicle collided, causing the car to catch fire. Fortunately, bystanders were able to pull Snyder from the burning vehicle before first responders arrived at the scene.
Despite the efforts of witnesses and emergency crews, Snyder suffered severe burns in the crash. He was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment, but authorities later confirmed that he succumbed to his injuries.
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. At this time, no further details about the circumstances surrounding the accident have been released.
Family members and loved ones are mourning the loss of Snyder, who was a well-known resident of Evansville.
