Evansveille, IN — A 27-year-old Evansville man is facing serious charges after allegedly stabbing another man during a violent altercation at a residence known as the “Grim Reaper house” on Saint Joseph Avenue late Friday night. Authorities have charged Everett Wade Jr. with Attempted Murder in connection with the incident. The Evansville Police Department responded to the 3500 block of Saint Joseph Avenue at approximately 7:49 p.m. on Friday, following reports of a stabbing.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers learned that the victim had already been taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. According to the victim’s statement to detectives, he was assaulted by several males before being stabbed by one individual, later identified as Wade. The victim, who has not been named, told police he was “jumped” and beaten by a group before Wade allegedly inflicted the stab wound. Wade was located at the scene, with blood visible on his hands and clothing. Police say he refused to speak with detectives during their investigation.
Upon searching the residence, officers found multiple knives that appeared to have been recently cleaned, suggesting an attempt to remove evidence. Wade was arrested and taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail, where he is being held without bond. He is facing charges of Attempted Murder and could face additional charges as the investigation continues. The location, often referred to as the “Grim Reaper house” due to its association with criminal activity, has been the subject of previous police reports. Authorities are now working to determine if the stabbing was part of a larger conflict or if additional suspects were involved.
The Evansville Police Department has urged anyone with further information about the incident to come forward. Investigators are still piecing together the circumstances surrounding the altercation and have not ruled out the possibility of additional arrests.
