Evansville, IN— Sam Syroney, a senior at Indiana University and native of Evansville, was among the students recognized by Indiana U.S. Senator Todd Young for his fall internship program. The recognition took place on Thursday, as Young honored a group of Hoosier students who participated in his internship initiative.
Syroney, who is pursuing his studies at IU, was selected to be part of the competitive program, which provided valuable hands-on experience in the nation’s capital. During the internship, Syroney and his peers assisted with a range of activities, including daily office operations, special projects, and support for legislation, communications, and constituent services.
The fall internship program is part of Senator Young’s ongoing efforts to engage young Hoosiers in the legislative process, offering them a chance to learn firsthand about the workings of Congress. The interns not only contributed to the senator’s daily tasks but also gained insight into the political and legislative processes that shape national policies.
“This program is an excellent opportunity for young Hoosiers to gain experience and make an impact on the important work we do in Washington,” Senator Young said in a statement. “I’m proud of the efforts and dedication of all of our interns, including Sam, who played a valuable role in our work this fall.”
Syroney’s recognition reflects the growing trend of college students from across Indiana taking part in internships in Washington, D.C., to gain experience that will serve them in their future careers. The program offers a unique opportunity to connect academic learning with real-world application, preparing students for careers in public service, policy, and beyond.
