Evansville, IN — A significant law enforcement response unfolded Thursday afternoon on Ridgeway Avenue in Evansville, as authorities executed a warrant at a residence near the intersection of Ridgeway and South Evans Avenue, just south of East Riverside Drive.
The situation prompted the involvement of a SWAT team, which was called to the scene due to the suspect’s criminal history, which authorities considered high-risk. Officers with the Evansville Police Department were seen in large numbers as they responded to the ongoing investigation.
One individual, identified as Tarik Pegues, was taken into custody without incident. Pegues, 32, was arrested and later booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail. He faces charges of failing to appear for a court hearing in November, where he was scheduled to address charges of battery against a pregnant victim.
In addition to the failure to appear charge, Pegues was also charged with a Petition to Revoke Probation. Court records indicate that Pegues had been sentenced to probation following a previous DUI conviction, and his arrest Thursday came as a result of violating the terms of that probation.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the nature of the warrant or other potential charges. Pegues’ court proceedings related to the current charges will be determined in the coming weeks.
