Evansville, IN – A 29-year-old Evansville man is facing multiple charges following an alleged domestic violence incident that left his teen girlfriend injured and resulted in him crashing his truck into her house.
According to an arrest affidavit, officers were dispatched to Judson Street in response to a domestic violence call. The caller reported that 29-year-old Corey Golike had attacked his girlfriend and that she required immediate medical attention.
A witness at the scene told police that Golike had assaulted the victim, damaging multiple items inside the home. The witness also reported seeing Golike strangle the victim to the point where she was losing consciousness. As the witness attempted to intervene, Golike allegedly assaulted them as well.
Once the witness managed to pull Golike off the victim, he reportedly fled the scene in his truck, driving into the back of the house.
The victim, who spoke with police, stated that the altercation began after she expressed disinterest in Golike’s family issues. She was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment.
A few hours later, Golike arrived at the hospital, where he was arrested. He told authorities that he had been at the hospital due to an unrelated battery case. Golike is currently being held at the Vanderburgh County Jail without bond.
He faces several charges, including domestic battery and criminal mischief.
