Bedford, Indiana – On Monday after a report of a male who had been at IU Health Bedford Hospital several times over the last several days and was harassing his estranged wife, a Bedford man was arrested.
Police found 33-year-old Justin Chastain’s black 2008 Dodge Ram truck was parked next to the female’s vehicle in the south parking lot of the medical building. They found no one in Chastain’s truck and that Chastain had left in the other woman’s vehicle.
Later, officers went into the IU Hospital Police Department squad room and began watching the surveillance cameras and watched Chastain return in the woman’s SUV at 5:10 p.m. and parked beside his truck.
When officers approached the vehicle, Chastain was told to leave the IU Health property and he responded no. He was then asked a second time to leave and refused. He was detained on a charge of trespassing.
Bedford Police Department Captain Jesse Crane arrived with his canine partner Maximus.
Officers found two glass smoking pipes and two small baggies that contained a small amount of crystal meth after the dog alerted to possible drugs in Chastain’s vehicle.
Chastain is facing charges of criminal trespass, possession of meth, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
