Indianapolis, Indiana – The NFL announced Tuesday that Babyface, an Indianapolis native and 12-time Grammy Award winner, will perform “America the Beautiful” during the Super Bowl LVII pregame show on February 12.
Kenneth Edmonds, better known as Babyface, grew up in Indianapolis and went to North Central High School. With English singer-songwriter Ella Mai, he just released “Keeps on Fallin’,” which is up for the Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B Performance. He has written and produced 125 Top 10 Hits including 44 No. 1 R&B Hits.
In 2018, Indiana University awarded Babyface an honorary doctorate, and in 1995, a 25-mile stretch of I-65 in Indianapolis was christened the Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds Highway.
The national anthem will be performed by country singer Chris Stapleton, while the Emmy-winning actress Sheryl Lee Ralph will perform “Lift Every Voice and Sing” as part of the pregame show.
During Stapleton’s rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” the U.S. Navy will fly overhead, and female aviators will be a part of the formation.
Glendale, Arizona’s State Farm Stadium will host Super Bowl LVII. The Fiesta Bowl and the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals both play their home games in this stadium.
The Super Bowl halftime show will feature international music and fashion phenomenon Rihanna, and the game will start at 6:30 p.m. EST.
