EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The man arrested last week in connection with the 2015 murder of an Evansville DJ is set to have his case moved to Circuit Court. Authorities confirm that 29-year-old Bobby Handegard turned himself in after a warrant for his arrest was issued by the Evansville Police Department.
Handegard is accused of being involved in the death of Shane Breedlove, a well-known local DJ whose murder has remained unsolved for several years. In the week following his arrest, court records show that Handegard has filed multiple motions in the case, including nearly a dozen discovery motions.
Among his legal actions, Handegard has requested an early trial. However, the state has moved to add a felony firearm enhancement charge, which could significantly impact the outcome of the case if he is convicted. Additionally, Handegard filed a motion to dismiss the charges against him, but this request was denied by the court.
Another hearing for the case has been scheduled for Thursday at 1 p.m., where further developments are expected to take place. As the legal proceedings continue, the community remains focused on the case, hoping for justice in the long-unsolved murder of Shane Breedlove.
