Evansville, IN – An Evansville man is facing multiple charges after being involved in a crash Sunday night at the intersection of Vann and Covert. According to local authorities, 47-year-old Fakhrid Henderson collided with another vehicle before fleeing on foot.
Police arrived at the scene to find beer cans in the floorboard of Henderson’s car, leading them to suspect he had been drinking. Officers later located Henderson about a block away from the crash site. At the time of his arrest, he was reportedly displaying signs of intoxication, including the smell of alcohol on his breath.
Henderson also had a swollen eye, which police say was the result of the crash. Due to his injuries, officers chose not to administer field sobriety tests. He refused to take a chemical test, further complicating the investigation.
After being evaluated at the hospital, Henderson was taken into custody and transported to jail. He is now facing charges related to the crash, fleeing the scene, and alcohol-related offenses. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
