Evansville, IN — A 47-year-old Evansville man is facing multiple charges following a hit-and-run crash on Sunday night. According to local police, the incident occurred at the intersection of Vann and Covert around 10 p.m. when Fakhrid Henderson collided with another vehicle before fleeing the scene on foot.
Officers who responded to the crash site found several beer cans in the floorboard of Henderson’s vehicle, leading them to suspect alcohol may have been involved. A short time later, police located Henderson about a block away from the crash site. Authorities reported that Henderson smelled of alcohol and had a swollen eye, which appeared to be a result of the crash.
Due to his injury, officers did not conduct field sobriety tests. However, Henderson refused to take a chemical test to determine his blood alcohol content.
Henderson was transported to a local hospital for treatment before being taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail. He now faces several charges in connection with the incident. Police have not released further details about the other driver involved in the crash.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
