Evansville, IN – According to the police officials, the fatal shooting occurred right after 3 a.m. early Sunday morning.
Evansville Police Department officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of E Columbia St in reference to a person who had been shot outside of Ponytails.
When Officers arrived on scene, they located an adult male victim with a single gunshot wound. He was still breathing, but in serious condition.
The victim was transported to a local hospital but a short time later, he was pronounced deceased.
Investigators identified 27-year-old Zachary Diaz as the suspect.
Investigators learned that the suspect approached the victim outside of Ponytails.
Diaz and the victim began to wrestle and then the victim was shot. When the victim fell to the ground, Diaz fled the scene in a silver Lexus.
Members of the Adult Investigations Unit and the Organized Crime Unit located Diaz at a residence in the 2800 block of Ravenswood Dr.
He was transported to the Vanderburgh County Confinement Center and charged with Murder.
