Evansville, IN – Participants in the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office Work Release Litter Patrol program recently recovered stolen lawn care equipment while cleaning up the community in Indiana.
According to the sheriff’s office, the Kobalt lawn equipment had originally been reported stolen through the Evansville Police Department on April 21.
Officials said the equipment was discovered hidden in a ditch approximately 4½ miles from the location where it had been taken. Authorities noted that the property will soon be returned to its rightful owner.
The sheriff’s office thanked Deputy Mike Bishop for quickly coordinating with Evansville Police detectives and also recognized Detective Lasher for helping identify and recover the stolen equipment.
Officials said the incident highlighted how community cleanup efforts can also assist in recovering stolen property and supporting local investigations.
