Indianapolis, Indiana – For the 2023–2024 season, the coaching staff of the Indiana Pacers will be slightly different.
Head coach Rick Carlisle made some changes as the Pacers prepared to begin the Summer League.
Ronald Nored, an assistant coach, has been added to the Atlanta Hawks staff by head coach Quin Snyder. When Carlisle was first hired as the team’s head coach in July 2021, he joined Carlisle’s group.
As an assistant coach, Jenny Boucek will occupy Nored’s spot in the front row. She moved from Dallas to Indiana with Carlisle and joined the Pacers at the same time as Nored.
Boucek’s position behind the bench will be filled by Jim Boylan. Boylan worked as Frank Vogel’s assistant with the Pacers in 2011–12 and provided consulting services to the team the previous year.
Boylen served two seasons as the head coach of the Chicago Bulls before leaving the club after going 39-84 without making the playoffs. This was before Boylen returned to the Pacers organization.
Connor McCaffery, a former guard for Iowa, was hired by Carlisle in May. He will assist with film research and the management of the scout team as part of his duties as an assistant.
Also in May, assistant coach Calbert Cheaney made official plans to join his alma university, the Indiana Hoosiers, and leave the Pacers staff. Cheaney worked for Nate Bjorkgren in 2020 but remained with the group when Carlisle was brought on board the following year. Martin Tombe will succeed Isaac Yacob in the position of head video coordinator, and Yacob will serve as the player development coach.
Carlisle thinks that the Pacers coaching staff is now set for the 2023–24 season, despite the roster being in flux due to free agency.
