Evansville, IN — A Princeton woman was arrested for driving under the influence after striking a parked car on East State Street, authorities say.
According to the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office, officers were called to the 700 block of East State Street around 9:30 p.m. following a report of a vehicle accident. As law enforcement responded to the scene, dispatchers informed them that the vehicle involved had collided with a parked car.
When officers arrived, they spoke with the driver, later identified as Abby Hyneman, and observed signs of intoxication. A strong odor of alcohol was detected, prompting officers to conduct a roadside DUI investigation.
Hyneman was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Gibson County Jail. She is facing charges of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated (OVWI), a criminal offense under Indiana law.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not released further details about the incident.
This arrest serves as a reminder of the dangers of impaired driving and the law enforcement efforts to reduce accidents related to drunk driving in the region.
