The US economy is steadily improving from the Covid-19 pandemic and that can be seen in the fact that the country added more than 850,000 jobs in June, which is a huge increase from the previous months.
According to NBC News, this is great news for the economy as this number exceeded the experts expectations of 700,000 jobs to be added in June.
The number of jobs added in June also affected the unemployment rate moving from 5.9% to 5.8%.
“This much is already clear: We’re on track, and we’re on the right track,” President Joe Biden said Friday in remarks from the White House.
Compared to previous months, the US added 266,000 jobs in April, a number that was far lower than the expected number. At one point, people were disappointed asking the White House officials if the country was actually moving in the right directions as the recovery was too slow.
In May, US added 559,00 jobs.
Despite this data, businesses are still struggling with workers shortage, particularly in the retail and restaurant sectors.
Although many think this might be an issue to speedy recovery of the economy, Biden thinks this is actually good as workers will be paid more.
“None of this happened by accident,” Biden said, crediting the COVID-19 stimulus package he proposed and signed into law earlier this year after it was passed.
