Indianapolis, Indiana – According to recent research, a small city in the state of Indiana has just been given a ranking that places it among the “safest small cities” in the United States.
Zionsville, which is located in Indiana, was placed eighth on a list of the safest small communities in the United States after a recent study was conducted on crime in the United States. In the year 2020, the overall crime rate in the city was 346.93 incidents committed for per 100,000 residents.
The majority of cities that were eligible for inclusion on the list of minor cities had a population of between 50,000 and 149,999 people. According to the census completed in 2020, the population of Zionsville is approximately 30,693, which indicates that the city experienced approximately 106 criminal acts during that year.
The research was conducted by CCTV Camera World, which is a security and investigations organization based in the United States. The study rated cities across the United States by the total crime rate, which was stated as the number of crimes committed per 100,000 population. The data for the study came from the FBI in 2020.
Ranking categories for the study included:
• 25 Safest Cities in the U.S.
• 10 Safest Large Cities with Population of 500,000+
• 10 Safest Mid-Sized Cities
• 10 Safest Small Cities
• Safest City in Every State
• 100 Safest Cities in America
In order for analysts to calculate the crime rate, they added up all of the recorded violent and property offenses. Violent crimes include things like homicide, rape, and assault, while property crimes include things like burglary, larceny theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson.
In addition, the same methodology was used to analyze 7,000 cities across the country based on their total crime rates. The evaluation was carried out by the research.
Overall, the top five safest cities in the U.S. are listed below:
• Wayland, Massachusetts
• Northport, New York
• Milton, Wisconsin
• Homer, New York
• Coxsackle, New York
The results of the survey indicate that New York is home to 16 of the “safest” cities in the country, making it the state with the most entries in the top 100. The next state was Wisconsin, which has nine cities that were in the top 100.
The authors of the analysis observed that the annual murder rate in the United States as a whole increased by a record 30% in the year 2020. Although Pew Research highlighted FBI and BJS data showing a downward trend in crime over the past three decades, the data may still cause fear among American citizens.
