Monroe County, Indiana – Monroe County school bus went off the road and hit a tree on Thursday and left with several students injured, authorities say.
According to police reports, the ongoing investigation should reveal the reason what happened and why the driver left the road that resulted with four people injured.
The police said one student suffered serious injuries and is in critical condition. As soon as first reposnders arrived, the was airlifted to hospital for treatment.
Two other students and the driver suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries.
Monroe County Sheriff’s Office reported that at the time of the accident there were four people in the bus, the three students and the driver. The information was also confirmed by the Monroe County School Corporation.
Authorities responded to a 911 call in regards to a single vehicle crash Thursday morning around 8:30 a.m. When they arrived, deputies reported the bus “appeared to run off of the road and struck a tree.”
The ages of the students involved are 7, 9, and 12. As of now, no updates were provided by the medical officials regarding the condition of the hospitalized student.
