Indianapolis, Indiana – A 10-year-old Indianapolis boy was shot and injured by stray bullet while he was sleeping in his own bedroom Monday late night, police confirmed.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the incident happened on the city’s northeast side before midnight and officers were dispatched at the scene at the Amber Woods Apartments in the 3500 block of North Mitthoeffer Road.
It was obvious that the bullet was fired outside of the apartment.
The EMS crews who responded at the scene treated the boy immediately, but he was taken to a local hospital for additional treatment. According to the latest information, the boy is in stable condition and is expected to fully recover soon.
A 9-year-old girl who did not suffer a gunshot wound was also hospitalized with minor injuries.
Police were not able to confirm or deny of the family was the actual target. The investigation should reveal these answers.
As of writing of this article, police don’t have suspects in the case and no arrests have been made so far.
