Anderson, Indiana – According to Indiana State Police, a man who had just robbed an Anderson liquor shop and was being chased by officers crashed on Interstate 69 on Wednesday.
According to the Anderson Police Department, a male adult suspect robbed the Save-On Liquor Store on Broadway Street in Anderson at about 6:10 p.m. According to APD, the individual demanded money while brandishing a firearm and stole an undisclosed sum of money.
Officers initially pursued the man in his silver sedan, according to ISP, but the suspect was able to elude them.
ISP reported that troopers started pursuing the suspect after his vehicle was later discovered traveling southbound on Interstate 69 from Madison County into Hamilton County.
ISP verified that the suspect was traveling at a speed of over 100 mph while being pursued.
ISP reported that the suspect crashed his car and crossed over into the northbound lane of I-69 near the 206.8-mile marker in Fishers.
The suspect was allegedly swerving his automobile to avoid other vehicles on the road when he reportedly lost control and it flipped over the guardrail. Troopers who were pursuing the suspect claimed this.
According to ISP, the suspect was transported to St. Vincent Hospital with critical but life-saving injuries.
ISP reported that the northbound lanes of I-69 were shut down for a sizable period of time as a result of the collision and the subsequent investigation.
