Washington – Following the catastrophic tornadoes and storms that raced through the state between March 31 and April 1, the Federal Emergency Management Agency declared that federal disaster assistance has been approved for Indiana.
As communities continue to recover, this federal assistance will strengthen local initiatives already underway at the state and local levels.
According to the release, residents of Allen, Benton, Clinton, Grant, Howard, Johnson, Lake, Monroe, Morgan, Owen, Sullivan, and White counties who were impacted by the storms will be entitled to get government aid.
Soon after the news, Gov. Holcomb posted an update on his Facebook page on the federal assistance that will now be made available to Indiana.
“I received word President Biden has approved our disaster declaration. We’re grateful for this action that will help thousands of Hoosiers and many communities that sustained damages from the historic tornado event that swept across the state with additional assistance as they continue to recover and rebuild their homes and lives.”
This financing will take the form of loans to help cover uninsured properties, grants for temporary housing, repairs for damaged homes, and other resources geared at assisting people and businesses most harmed by the destructive storms.
Residents in the aforementioned locations who lost property are encouraged to apply for aid online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by phone at (800) 621-3362.
