Indianapolis, Indiana – On Sunday morning, Fishers Police Department officers detained a Greenfield police officer for driving under the influence.
On Sunday, June 18, at around one in the morning, a Fishers Police Officer saw a white passenger automobile moving erratically between lanes around 96th Street and Olio Road while lacking a headlight.
The police then stopped traffic to conduct an investigation. Officer Nichole Gilbert of the Greenfield Police Department, the driver, was subsequently detained and brought to the Hamilton County Jail on charges of driving while intoxicated.
Gilbert has spent 13 years as a member of the Greenfield Police Department. Gilbert was not operating a police vehicle at the time of her arrest, according to a statement from the Greenfield Police Department.
“We are committed to being transparent, even when we ourselves stumble,” reads a portion of the statement released by GPD.
The officer has been placed on administrative leave until the conclusion of an internal investigation.
