Neighbors in Geist area protest party house shooting

Indianapolis, Indiana – The owner of a sizable home in the Geist neighborhood’s 9000 block of Fall Creek Road has reportedly run into financial trouble.

The home is in foreclosure and the owner filed for bankruptcy, so recently the location was given to a promoter who uses the address, “Mansion II,” to host large DJ-hosted parties on the weekends. As a result, the neighborhood’s quiet residential streets have become choked with more than a hundred vehicles, strangers have been seen wandering the streets, gunfire has broken out, and a woman was injured early this morning.

Nearby to the party house is Emily Hortin’s home.

”Loud parties with guests wearing questionable attire, we’ve got small kids here, playing loud music with lots of profanity, scantily clad women walking up and down the street and the most recently gunshots firing during any large gathering that happens at that property,” she said. ”Last week the entire street all the way to the west and then back up around this corner, all the way down this court and then around the corner, was probably 70 cars I would approximate between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m., which was what the flyer for the party advertised.”

The promoter advertised a pool party during Mother’s Day weekend with a $250 wet t-shirt contest, a $20 minimum cover charge, but admittance fees up to $500 and $750 for VIPs, which also included bottles, wristbands, and food.

The promoter has announced a Race Day pool party for the following weekend, with a cover charge of $650 for the “Balcony Pool House Section” with “2 Bottles 15 Wristbands” and $500 for the “Poolside Section” with “2 Bottles 10 Wristbands.”

Such commercial events held on private property that are not permitted as entertainment venues have typically been shut down by the IMPD due to the lack of alcohol or food service permits.

“We believe they are charging and profiting off of whatever they’re doing down there,” said Hortin.

One local claimed to have run into a promoter who had come all the way from Fort Wayne to the Geist neighborhood celebration.

Loud shouts and numerous gunshots were captured on personal security cameras over the weekend of April 29 and again this morning.

This afternoon, neighbors from the communities of Lantern Hill and Harrison Run gathered in the street to assess the harm that errant gunfire had inflicted on their residences and automobiles.

”There was screaming, cars flying through the neighborhood at a high rate of speed,” said Nicholas Blesch Clark. ”When we woke up, we realized some bullets hit our house. We found five so far, including one that went into our garage and then one that went all the way into the house and went into the back bedroom where my wife and children were sheltering.”

The party home is more than 200 feet away and is located on the opposite side of Fall Creek Road.

The new residence and cars of Billy Faison were located nearer to the action.

”I checked and I saw a bullet hole hit my daughter’s car close to her gas tank,” he said, walking along his driveway. ”I haven’t even had this truck three weeks yet and I came out this morning when daylight came and have a better vision of assessing things, and I saw that my truck was hit as well.”

Faison claimed that the gunfire brought back memories of his military service in conflict zones.

”Heard multiple gunshots,” he said. ”Just a few minutes later after that, there was a whole bunch of suppressor fire going back and forth. Right then I knew that it was some kind of violent activity going on.

“Came out here last night and there were people in our yard, hiding between our vehicles.”

The residents claim that they have spoken to IMPD, Mayor Joe Hogsett’s office, City-County Councilman Ethan Evans, and other officials over the parties and the violence that accompany them at the entrance to their neighborhood.

”Lots of loud parties and most recently gunshots, which is our biggest concern,” said Hortin. ”We can’t continue to beat these odds. Not at the rate, these parties keep happening.”

As residents discovered additional bullet holes in their homes today, IMPD officers returned to the area to gather information.

”I don’t think anybody in the neighborhood wants to live under the constant threat of gunfire every weekend,” said Blesch Clark.

The upcoming Race Weekend party at the huge mansion has been made known to IMPD.

A man who claimed to be the property’s owner requested that the detective “contact the detective” over the shooting this morning.

He insisted that he was unaware of any recent noisy parties and gunfire that had uprooted his neighbors.

They claimed that the owner is the only one if he is unaware of the disturbances the parties at his home have made in the typically calm area.
