Evansville, IN — Firefighters were called to the scene of a significant fire at Sauced, an Italian restaurant located on Parrett Street, just before 5 p.m. on Christmas Day. The blaze broke out at the historic building, situated in the heart of the Haynie’s Corner Arts District.
Crews responded quickly to the scene, where they discovered that the fire had started on the upper floor of the building. Fire officials confirmed that a resident living on the second floor was able to safely escape the flames, along with their dog. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
As many as 40 firefighters and nine fire trucks were deployed to battle the blaze. It took crews approximately an hour and a half to bring the fire under control. The restaurant, housed in a reimagined historic home, is a well-known fixture in the area, attracting both locals and visitors to its Italian cuisine.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported at this time.
